Abscission 1.0.3 Alpha

Low budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to create an epic, the creators instead need to focus on one unique feature to make their games stick out. From these restrictions comes some truly inventive concepts. One of them is Abcission, a pixelated horror game where you have to stay sane while investigating horrific murders.

To play Abcission, simply unzip the archive and run the executable.

The setup is simple. You play as Will Stanhope, a detective who has been called in to a murder case. This murder case is special in that it's left the corpse of a woman suspended by fleshy tendrils in the corner of her bedroom. This starts off strange, but as he dives into solving it, it keeps getting stranger and freakier.

This game plays like a traditional point and click adventure, with you searching for clues and chatting to various people to progress in the game. During conversations, you can choose between four different personalities or approaches - Melancholic, Phlegmatic, Sanguine, and Choleric.

There are some frustratingly vague clues at times, but on the whole, it's a very good old school horror point and click adventure. The pixel artwork has a ton of details and the story is incredibly gripping.

This game isn't finished yet and still in active development, but what's here is very engaging. Give Abcission a try if any of that sounds appealing.
