Dota Autochess was a surprise hit when it came out, which was doubly surprising as it was simply a custom game mod. The combination of gambling and real skill took the internet by storm, so much so that Valve has officially sanctioned it and released their own version. With many other developers seeing it as the new up and coming genre of games to cash in on, many of tried to follow suit. Chaos Combat Chess is one of them.

On paper, this is very similar to other auto chess games. You have to buy units from a randomly generated shop, each of which will level up when you get duplicates of them. You have to position them on the board in a way that will make them attack the enemy optimally. And there are factions where once you've fielded a certain amount of units from them, you get a bonus.

However, this game does some different things and innovates in some areas. The biggest thing is how you can decide how to spec your units after they level up, which opens up a ton of different builds and strategies, making even spamming a single faction over and over engaging. There is also extensive avatar customization so you can stand out from the crowd.

All in all, Chaos Combat Chess does just enough to stand out from a crowd of games from the genre.
