Cold Shot 1.0

Low budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to create an epic, the creators instead need to focus on one unique feature to make their games stick out. From these restrictions comes some truly inventive concepts. One of them is Cold Shot, where you play as a hitman trapped in a nightmare.

To play Cold Shot, simply run the executable after unzipping it to a folder.

You play as a hitman who's out to take somebody out. The game starts with you sighting down a sniper and killing your target. You have to go confirm the kill, of course, and so you enter the house. That's where things get weird, as you rapidly start seeing signs of supernatural activity. Of course, from there, you have to run the hell away to live.

The best thing about this game is how it builds up its scares. There are no undeserved jumpscares. What I mean by this is if you pay attention, the atmosphere and sound design are more than enough to warn you that something's coming, making it hit all the more harder than any screamer could. This is something that far too many games, even AAA games, get wrong. This already makes it one of the scariest free games out there already. 

All in all, if you want to play a game with an incredibly unique premise, then you should give Cold Shot a download.
