Cosmoteer 0.15.6

The gaming industry is going through a space sim boom recently, thanks to the big highlight project Star Citizen. Thankfully, there are some that have actually released recently, and some of those are even completely free and still being updated! One of them is Cosmoteer, a game that lets you painstakingly customize a ship and take them into the galaxy.

Installing Cosmoteer is straightforward. Simply run the installer. The graphics may give you some pause, as it doesn't look that impressive. Thankfully, the gameplay more than makes up for it. The game is about building ships from scratch, upgrading them with better parts, and then using them to defeat enemies along the way. You'll also need to manage your crew and make sure that everything inside your ship is flowing better. Naturally, better parts, weapons, and modules become available as you play, but you'll need money to buy them. To get money, you'll need to complete missions and hoard resources. Missions get harder, so you'll need better parts...and so on and so forth. 

Thankfully, this is an incredibly addicting gameplay loop. There isn't a story to distract you or give you something else to do - and that's fine. If you're a fan of space sims, there's almost no reason not to give this a try. It's free, it's highly customizable, and it's fun.
