Vanilla Skyrim has a variety of issues. Most would agree that the passage of time has not been kind to it, with a ton of people rightfully pointing out a ton of issues with it. Luckily, Skyrim has one of the largest modding scenes around and a ton of creators have dedicated themselves to fixing the game's many issues. One of them is Dirt and Blood, a mod that fixes the lack of wear and tear on your character over days of travel and battle.

To install the Dirt and Blood, drag it into the Skyrim Data folder, as well as using LOOT to determine the optimal load order so you don't crash your game constantly, much like most Skyrim mods.

This mod doesn't affect any gameplay and is here to help enhance your immersion. Now, there are four stages of dirt and four equivalent stages of dirt + blood. Your character will steadily get more and more dirty as you play the game, with it having a higher chance of progressing when you get hurt in combat. 

There are only two exceptions to the "no gameplay modifier" thing. When you're at stage 4 of the dirt/blood level, merchants will give you a 10% price increase. On the other hand, if you keep yourself clean, you'll get a 10% price discount. This can be turned off. You can easily wash yourself by simply swimming for a bit in a lake or a river.

Overall, Dirt and Blood is a fantastic mod for enhancing your immersion in the world of Skyrim.
