Genshin Impact 1.0

Breath of the Wild is one of the most interesting games this decade. While I had some personal gripes with it, its absolutely peerless exploration cannot be denied. However, it takes a ton of effort to replicate something like that in another game. Creating a map where you can climb on everything and glide over everything while still rewarding exploration is tough. So imagine my surprise when Genshin Impact, a gacha game, manages to replicate that incredibly well.

First thing's first - yes, this is a gacha game. The rates are awful and it's a grind to max a character out. However, this is practically the only downside. There's plenty of free premium currency you can get from exploring and finding the 1800 secrets scattered around this massive map.

Other than that, this game is absolutely drop-dead gorgeous, and the art style takes clear inspiration from Breath of the Wild. You can climb any surface you want, and after playing for a bit, you will also unlock the glider. There is also a party system, where you can swap between four characters whenever you wanted to. Each character plays completely different. The main character can wield magic and throw people in the air, and another character can only wield a bow and throw dolls that blow up. Each character has a distinct playstyle.

Overall, Genshin Impact is a fantastic game. If you can look past the gacha rates in a PVE game with no competitive gameplay at all, then you should definitely play this game.
