Grimm's Hollow 1.0

Halloween is one of the most anticipated holidays for young children. The opportunity to dress up as whatever they want (within reason) and get candy by saying one simple phrase is a dream come true for them. However, to the surprise of some (me included), I'm not a child. Instead, I try playing games that have the spirit of the holiday instead - Grim's Hollow is one of them.

The first thing that you'll notice is that this game is very reminiscent of Undertale in tone. Despite how messed up the premise is on paper, it keeps a lighthearted, jokey tone that never gets in the way. However, this game sets itself apart by having the story get serious a lot faster than Undertale does.

This game doesn't revolutionize the RPG genre in any way, and the gameplay mirrors that. The plot, however, is another story. A girl dies and wakes up in the afterlife and tries to find her brother. Along the way, she meets a ton of wacky and zany characters that all have unique personalities and goals. The graphics are cute, yet dark, with deep shades of purple, blue, and black. There are also hand-drawn images that are absolutely gorgeous throughout the game.

Overall, Grim's Hollow is a fantastic time and is easy to love. It's also offered at the best price of all - completely free. There's little reason to not give it a shot.
