Final Fantasy basically codified the turn based JRPG format, with the formula lasting from the 80s to now with only some minor tweaks and streamlining to the system. It's also accessible enough that it can be applied to games with a variety of budgets - in fact, the famous RPG maker software makes it simple to make an RPG with barely any budget. However, there are some that tried to go further beyond before that engine even came out - the MARDEK series is one of them. Let's look at MARDEK RPG - Chapter 3.

This game follows the trend of Chapter 2 by being bigger and better. It's truly staggering just how much content is available in this game. If you want to 100% the game, it will take you dozens of hours - as long as some commercial JRPGs! Just to reiterate, this is just one chapter of a Flash game.

Your party is also incredibly diverse this time around, to the point where party composition is something you seriously need to consider. Each zone needs a different party to excel in as well, meaning you can't just sit and be comfortable with one party.

As this is a plot driven game, I won't go into too much detail. Needless to say, this single chapter went down into flash game history for good reason. The richness and sheer amount of content in the world beats out many commercial indie games today.

All in all, MARDEK RPG - Chapter 3 is definitely one of the best flash games ever created.
