It's surprising how difficult it is to find information about your own computer, sometimes. The best you're going to get from the built-in software is dxdiag, but even then it's mostly just barely under the surface. If you need a ton of information, you'll need to download some specialty programs. I've seen a lot of system information programs, but I think PCFerret might be one of the best ones.

The first thing you'll notice when you boot up PCFerret is how attractive and practical the interface is, two of the best qualities for any interface to have. Thanks to the multi-tabbed interface that are labeled clearly and concisely, you'll be able to find anything you want.

You'll probably notice two tabs that are labeled similarly. One is Quick System Details, the other is Full System Details. What's the difference? Well, while the quick system details give you details about the user name, computer name, IP address, OS, total and available memory, computer manufacturer, and motherboard. The full system details also tells you what kind of software you have installed, as well as monitors, video adapters, processors, and basically everything that wasn't in the quick system details.

The other tabs are similarly self-explanatory. ADS is related to ADS detection, and Reboot operations are related to setting up the functions that run when you reboot the computer. I can confidently say that each one of these tools functions as intended and that's high praise considering how many of them there are. I recommend PCFerret to everyone.
