It's staggering how few pirate games are out there, considering how much potential the genre has. There's a very elaborate trade system, the ability to play as all major colonial powers of the time, several storylines involving legendary pirates, reputation systems, morale systems, detailed crew management, dynamic alliances between the AI, and the possibility of visiting a brothel if you'd like.

There are also revamped sailing mechanics, which is arguably the most important thing when it comes to a pirate game. This has some of the most realistic sailing out there as a result.
