The 3D Sonic games have been controversial among Sonic fans, to say the least. Unlike its lead competitor at the time, Sonic's transition to 3D was a lot less graceful and many would argue that it led to the downfall of the series from being a lead platformer to a relative meme on the internet. There have been a ton of 3D fan games that present their own spin on the 3D Sonic formula. There are others that are made to cash in on the Sonic memes. One of them is Sanic Ball, a hilarious yet strangely fun game.

To install Sanic Ball, simply unzip the files into any folder you want and run the executable.

Its entire theme as a joke is shown in the very first frame when you enter the game. A logo with a warped meme Sonic face will appear on the screen, and the menu screen will feature that same warped sonic face lazily textured on a ball in a hilariously lazy main menu.

Once you get into the game, your character will unceremoniously drop into a lobby room. Your character is one of many characters in Sonic and their meme faces textured on to a ball.

The actual gameplay is strangely addicting - it is based completely in speed, with no restrictions outside of being required to hit certain checkpoints to progress. Your speed will be measured in "fasts per hour", and you can quickly find yourself flying out of the map from going so...well, fast. There are numerous multiple routes that you can reach only by going fast as well.

All in all, Sanic Ballis a surprisingly hilarious and fun game.
