Flash games were like the wild west. During the time they were around, modern game design in and of itself wasn't fully fleshed out. Sure, there were a couple of soft rules, but experimentation was everywhere.  Flash games were and are the most experimental games you can play around as they don't really care what's "right" and what's "wrong". The Company of Myself is a great example of that.

To install The Company of Myself, simply run the file in whatever SWF player you have.

The main gameplay loop is incredibly simple, yet addictive. However, the premise is also hauntingly beautiful. You play as a lone character who has the ability to hop back in time and leave behind a solid ghost who copies what you did last loop. Using this ghost, you can jump on its head to access higher areas and finish each level. This, coupled with the incredibly creative obstacles that stop your ghosts or you means that you have to start thinking outside the box. This also means that you have to think ahead and prepare for future loops.

The story is portrayed simply but still carries plot twists in its 20 levels. I don't want to spoil it, but the game isn't that difficult because there's a help me button in the top right in case you get stuck.

All in all, The Company of Myself is a very unique game and you can definitely see some of its DNA in modern indie games.
