There are very few action MMORPGs out there - most of the genre has been defined by World of Warcraft and similarly follows that combat formula. While many would argue that form of combat is plenty tactical (being an endgame FFXIV player, I would agree), it doesn't hold a candle to proper action games when it comes to split second decisions. Not only that, it isn't exactly thrilling most of the time - only the most challenging dungeons and raids require you to have your brain turned on. Vindictus aims to change that.

Combat in Vindictus is fast and visceral. Each character can deal damage using a combination of light attacks, heavy attacks. All of them use three common resources: HP for absorbing hits, stamina for performing offensive and defensive actions, and SP to perform special attacks. Characters may also have resources unique to them, like mana, cooldowns, and buffs.

There are also many different classes of armor. Early on, light armor is just simply weaker defensively, but by the end game, light armor gives offensive power at the expense of defense, while plate armor gives thee opposite. Weapons are the most important equipment you can have, and are also unique between classes.

All in all, Vindictus is a fun MMORPG with a very unique gameplay style that rewards player skill as much as gear progression. If that's something you're looking for, you should give this game a download.
