Point and click games used to be all the craze until around the 2010s. Now, they're usually relegated to mid size productions or simple indie titles. The genre also proved incredibly popular among flash game creators, due to the relatively simple planning and programming that goes into such a game. However, some go a step beyond and try to emulate the story-heavy point-and-click games. One of them is Vortex Point. Let's look at Vortex Point 8: The Rock.

The presentation is the same as the last entry, which is again a mixed bag. This game was released in 2017 and the voice acting quality is still worse than some productions from the mid 2000s. Some lines are overacted, the audio quality is terrible, and it's just generally confusing. However, the backgrounds and art are incredibly clean and detailed.

Gameplay-wise, it's still pretty much the same, with some QOL additions such as a fluid map screen and some hints from dialogue that the previous entries lacked.

All in all, if you're a fan of point-and-click games, then you're missing out if you don't give this game a shot. Vortex Point 8: The Rock is the exemplar of the series, representing everything the series did right and wrong all in one package.
