If you're reading this, there's a good chance that you're at your computer or your phone. Either way, you're probably sitting down in some sort of reading position, unless you like reading standing up or while walking...or maybe you're lying down. Point is, assuming you're sitting down for a few hours now, you're at a high risk for repetitive stress injuries, and taking short breaks helps greatly with stopping that. Enter Big Stretch Reminder, something which specifically targets RSI.
The installation and actual initialization of Big Stretch Reminder is incredibly straight forward. The window that pops up is incredibly minimalist, and it's hard to get lost here. There are four tabs - Timer, Display, Messages, and Sounds. Under Timer, you can choose how many minutes there are in between reminders, with options to increase reminder frequency during periods of heavy usage and to pause reminders when the computer has no activity going on.
Display lets you customize the window that pops up when they remind you to take a break. That's about it. You can choose between a Balloon reminder from your taskbar or a popup window that shows up right in your face. Messages lets you choose between motivational quotes, some random health tips, or custom messages that you create. And lastly, sounds lets you select whether it plays a sound or not, and to customize the sound that plays.
That's it, really. An incredibly straightforward program that helps you with your health. There's little reason to dissuade one from downloading Big Stretch Reminder.
