Fraps is a benchmarking and screen capturing program. The benchmarking feature allows you to monitor the frames per second (FPS), frametimes, and Min/Max/Average. And you can do this in-game; you do not have to exit the game to que up the benchmarking program. A simple press of a hotkey is all that is needed to start the application.

Fraps' screenshot feature allows you to not only take a screenshot of your gameplay, but also save it in different formats, include the frame rate overlaid, and repeat the screen capture after a user specified number of seconds. Just like the benchmarking feature, you are not required to exit your gameplay to take a screenshot.

Along with screen capture, Fraps also provides you with the tools for video capture as well. You hace several FPS and screensize options to choose from. You can hide the mouse cursor in the video, lockt the framerate while recording, choose the audip input, and split the movie every time the file size reaches 4gb. And you can do this all without ever having to leave your game using a hotkey.
