Videopad Video Editor Review
Last Updated: 2014-05-21 11:01:53
Videopad is a video editing software for your Windows PC that includes all of the standard features that you would expect from an intermediate editor. It's not in the same class as Sony Vegas Pro, or Adobe Premier Pro, but it well above the Windows Live Movie Maker standard.
The interface, like many other video editors, is not one to boast about. It's a plain, cross between Windows 98 and XP interface. It's definitely not one to catch the eye of many people, however the developers behind Videopad and most other video editing software figure that users care about performance rather than aesthetics. While the seesaw is definitely on the side of performance, as someone who is very passionate about beautiful GUI design, I expect more from applications, especially those used to make art.
Adding sounds and music to your project is very simple and easy. Videopad is compatible with most of the standard audio formats, so you shouldn't have any issues there. You also get free access to NCH's huge library of sound effects. You'll need an internet connection to access them though as the library is not included in the download of the application itself - the application would've been much larger in size. Instead Videopad connects to the NCH server and downloads the files individually upon your requests.
The application isn't bare bones at all. It is quite feature rich. It includes all of the standard and most common features that we've come to expect from video editors like video transitions and effects. One downside is that Videopad cannot output 4k or even 2k video. 1080p is the maximum video output that you can get.
