If you're in need of a tool to use in order to learn 3D modeling principles, chemistry concepts, or learn how to use modeling software like what you will be using out in the workforce. ACD/Chemsketch is a great educational tool to use. ACD/ Chemsketch aids in teaching to high school, undergraduate, and graduate school students.
Advanced Chemistry Development's ACD/ Chemsketch is a freeware bundle comprised of three tools dedicated to chemistry structures, modeling and design. With ACD/Chemsketch you can draw chemical structures which include, but are not limited to, organics, organometallics, polymers, and Markush structures. The program also includes features which allow for the calculation of molecular properties, including molecular weight, molar refraction, and density.
ACD/Chemsketch's interface is one that is simple and easy to navigate through. Sometimes the interface may seem a bit cluttered; however each tool has its reason for being on the main interface. As you continue to use the application and get more familiar with the tools available to you, you will learn to appreciate the accessibility of all of the tools.
ACD/Chemsketch is a bundle of three programs. The main program, Chemsketch, is where all of the magic happens. The second program in the bundle is actually the programming language that integrates with Chemsketch in order to make the presentation and manipulation of molecular structures possible. The third program in the bundle, 3D Viewer, as you would imagine, is a fast and accurate 3D modeling and visualization program that works alongside the Chemsketch program.
