Flash games were the precursors to many parts of the gaming industry today. The creativity and willingness to experiment has translated over to the indie games industry, many design elements that are used in AAA games today were first observed in flash games, and the casual nature of many flash games has translated over to the mobile game industry. Cardian features some very creative genre blending that you don't see often.

To start with, you'll have to choose from one of three different decks to battle your way up the ranks of card masters. Gameplay is actually fairly simple despite initial looks. Your portal is on the left, and your opponent's is on the right. You need to summon units from your deck to overwhelm your opponent's portal before he does the same to you. You need to have the gold and resources required to deploy a unit. 

The game features a ton of strategy, but as most deck building games go, also some luck. You can only buy cards through booster packs, and if you create a deck that's too big, you'll eventually find that you can't draw the card you need anymore.

So, all in all, this is a deck building game that also features some surprisingly fun and casual gameplay. If that appeals, you should definitely give Cardian a download.
