Colina: Legacy Alpha demo Review

Colina: Legacy alpha demo is a Brazilian made horror game and those guys in Brazil have been making some great horror games recently (see Pesadelo) and this looks very promising, a lot of detail has been put in to the graphics, I actually found this a few weeks ago and the game was so dark it was virtually unplayable so I’m glad it has been improved that being said it is very dark and although this is something a lot of horror games play on (what’s more scary than darkness?) but at times it can be very frustrating.
You play as Alex who wakes up for someone reason outside his grandmother’s house and on entering finds that it is dilapidated and run down and in a rather bad condition generally, and Alex’s grandmother or mother are nowhere to be seen. The game shows a lot of promise and the graphics for a free indie game are superb apart from the previously mentioned darkness thing, it can at times be a little glitchy and sometimes the movement of the protagonist is a bit strange, also you are not able to pick up anything up (with the exception of the flashlight) unless you have a backpack which can be found but it’s strange not being able to read a letter unless you have a backpack and the house is filled with documentation that will give you clues as to how to progress but you are not able to read any of this until you have the backpack in your possession which is a little strange.
Colina: Legacy shows a lot of promise but there are quite a lot of glitches that will need to be ironed out to make the game a really playable and terrifying experience.
