Low-budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to dazzle the audience with beautiful graphics, they instead need to focus on something else to stand out. These restrictions can lead to some very creative premises. Let's look at GRASPING.
To install GRASPING, simply unzip the files inside the archive into any folder you want.
The premise is unnerving. You play as someone who sticks their hand inside a machine so it can diagnose you based on the state of your hand. The game was initially designed to be played with a custom controller that you physically put your hand in, but the game was ported for keyboard.
The robot will talk to you constantly, and you communicate via wiggling your digits around. And you quickly form a bond with the robot as you two start talking. Of course, being a horror game, this starts being unnerving very quickly. The machine will start glitching out and your hand will start glitching out with it. It gets incredibly unsettling towards the end.
There's something very unnerving about interacting with a machine just with your hand, as you can just imagine that you can't see your hand. Which, incidentally, was how it was originally designed. Still, there's a certain tactile feeling with the unique keyboard controls that manage to replicate the feeling similarly.
All in all, GRASPING is an incredibly unique game that everybody should check out.
