Hardentools 1.0

Privacy is extremely important to most people in the world, and I'm no different. However, that's becoming more and more difficult nowadays. Almost every program comes built-in with a tiny bit of security loopholes that become more and more substantial. There are a ton of different ways to plug up these loopholes, but many of them involve interrupting your workflow or otherwise being inconvenient. Programs that plug up these loopholes without getting in your way are rare, and one of them is Hardentools.

There's no installation process, so just download Hardentools and run the executable. There are no software requirements either. However, because it needs access to some of your Windows utilities to disable them, you'll have to run this program as an administrator or it won't work. It's a good idea to create a system restore point before using this application because it doesn't automatically do that. There's nothing really impressive about the interface since it's focused fully on functionality.

When you click the Harden button, it immediately deactivates VBScript, Office packager objects, macros, and Active X, JavaScript in Acrobat Reader, autorun and autoplay, Powershell and Command Prompt, along with the ability to open objects embedded in PDF documents. Most users won't actively use any of these, so it shouldn't get too much in the way. 

The only negatives about this program is it doesn't tell you exactly what changes it's making without online documentation and it can't reactivate the settings it disables. Nevertheless, if this sounds like something you need, then give Hardentools a download.
