Jet Sweep 505 1.0

Jet Sweep 505 is a retro style game with a nod back to classic arcade games of the late 80’s such as Space invaders and Pac Man.

You have just been welcomed in to the Huntsland Navy Penal Fleet and your job is to clear the world’s largest and most dangerous minefield using your trusty ship equipped with a laser gun and a missile (or torpedo) launcher and you have to clear the sea mines which come towards you rapidly, it can be a bit difficult to get the hang of controlling the mina gun and the torpedo at the same time as only the main gun is able to rotate but you can rotate the torpedo gun by moving the ship around.

Packages are dropped to keep your health up but the mines come thick and fast and you must make sure to take them out because just a couple of hits can be enough to make you die.

This brings us nicely to one of the flaws in the Jet Sweep 505 which is that when you do die, at least during the rather prolonged intro/tutorial sequence it takes you right back to the start of that each time and it can be a little frustrating because it takes a while to get used to controlling the ship and shooting unless you’re incredibly dexterous!

That aside this is a fun game with a nice retro vibe and will appease those of you who are yearning for gaming’s simpler days.
