Revulsion (previously known as Project Stray) is a low poly first person shooter game which clearly takes a lot of influence from classic FPS games such as Doom and Quake and that is certainly no bad thing as a good free FPS is very hard to come by these days and Revulsion really does give you the nostalgia of walking through those old dark and heavily pixelated tunnels while waiting for the next monster to come after you.
As you make your way through these tunnels you will find treasure chests which can be looted for things such as ammo, new weapons and armor but one thing that needs to be made very clear is this game is certainly not easy, if you’ haven’t got a good shot and a steady hand you’re going to have trouble fighting off the monsters which seem to come from nowhere at times although can usually be heard by the sounds they make as they get near you however at times the controls can be a little unresponsive and with it being rather unforgiving in how quick you die this can cause some amount of frustration.
In regards to the graphics the enemies might look as if they’re straight out of MineCraft but that’s not necessarily a bad thing if you’ve ever wanted to shoot characters in MineCraft however sometimes the heavy pixilation can make it difficult to see what is going on and when you’re heavily under attack.
Revulsion (Project Stray) is a very nostalgic first person shooter that should please those of you hardcore enough to get good at it, but do be aware it is very challenging.
