Lights of Dreams IV: Far Above the Clouds 14.07

Angels have had some pretty polarizing representations in fiction. Sometimes, they're the embodiment of holiness, unwilling or incapable of violence and bringing peace wherever they go. Other times (mostly in games), they're depicted as holy warriors that fight with fervor. However, not all angels can be these warriors. What does an angel that simply exists do? Lights of Dreams IV: Far Above the Clouds gives you a glimpse into that.

Like the title suggests, Light of Dreams IV: Far Above the Clouds is part of the Light of Dreams series. In every entry, you play as an angel and explore a large world full of mysteries. However, your mission and objective are very vague. The game drops you into the world after teaching you some basic mechanics and controls, and then sends you off on your merry way. Unfortunately, the English is very clearly bot-translated, so it may be hard to follow along.

On top of that, there's no way to mark areas you've been in, making exploring the various worlds difficult to keep track of. You'll have to rely on landmarks and your memory. The graphics aren't awful, but they're certainly not good. While many games try to prop up their poor textures and animation with beautiful art direction, this game doesn't nearly go far enough. It ultimately just ends up fine.

All in all, Lights of Dreams IV: Far Above the Clouds is fine as an exploration game and can be soothing, but it's unpolished state is certainly not for everyone.
