Videogames resurfaced in the 1960s. In the beginning, they were created with few bits and were characterized as being simple and composed with few details and colors. The theme of the games were mostly science fiction, like the game Spacewar!

The first commercial and most successful game was Pong, followed by Atari breakout with a ball pushed by a bar that allows you to destroy blocks while preventing the ball from touching the ground. The space theme brought upon great games like Space Invaders and Asteroids. Shortly after came the era of colorful graphics with video games like Pacman.

In the following years, computer game developers began developing from different, very addictive game themes that produced Tetris and Mario game. Years later, in the era of the ’90s Sonic game or Shadow of the Beast with a much improved graphics and visual effects until 1993, the industry began to refine the concept of the three dimensions.

Quake was noted for implementing major advances in 3D gaming and maps with the use of light in real time.

With the successful implementation of the three dimensions in media, we’ve received lots of different and very well imagined video games that have only been improving with the advances in 3D technology, making them increasingly realistic providing gamers with truly cinematic experiences, specifically in categories like racing games and other sports games

PC games have surprisingly evolved over the recent years and now are one of the sectors with highest economic growth in the entertainment industry due to the high growth rates of the technology inside the computers and the involvement with film and music.

PC games are some of the oldest games around.  They started rising to prominence following the video game crash of 1983 and is one of the biggest gaming platforms around nowadays, right behind the mobile and the console sector. With the unique control scheme that the computer has compared to consoles and mobile games, it has led to a rise of multiple genres that simply don't work as well on consoles. The First Person Shooter genre started here, where fast-paced, pinpoint accurate shooters became popular. There have been attempts, of course, like the oddly poetic Halo Wars (Halo has a habit of bringing genres to consoles) but it has stayed home mostly.  

And what about the city building simulation games? They're another great genre that has tried to make the shift over to console in recent years, but because of the console's relative lack of power, it's never quite as grand or smooth as it is on PC. And of course, how can we forget mods. The very design of PCs have let mods truly flourish, with how easy it is to access the game files and edit them.
