In order to follow this guide you will need to download Galacticraft. Please click the green button below.

Galacticraft may be a Minecraft mod, but you'll quickly find that your previous knowledge barely applies to this mod. Take a look at this guide to see how to actually access the new content it provides!

1. The Checklist

Loading in is simple and very similar to the original Minecraft. Builds a base, walk around and find some materials, etc. But to actually take off and explore the solar system, you'll need a few extra machines that the mod has added in. To launch into and survive in space, you'll need these items:

  • Tier 1 Rocket
  • Rocket Launch Pad
  • Fuel Loader
  • Fuel Canister
  • Oxygen Gear
  • Oxygen Mask
  • Oxygen Compressor
  • Oxygen Tanks
  • Parachute

To make these items, you'll need another two new items. The Circuit Fabricator and the Compressor or Electric Compressor. These are the most basic machines in Galacticraft and form the founddation of everything you'll do. You'll also need the NASA Workbench and Refinery to create  your rocket and make fuel for it. You'll also need plenty of raw material - iron ore, copper ore, tin ore, aluminum ore, and some silicon.

It sounds like a lot, right? What happens if you take off without oxygen?

Well...you'd die. Quickly.

Step 2: Crafting and using them

Once you've gathered all of the materials you need, it's time to actually create the machines. Obviously there are far too many recipes to cover quickly here, so it's my recommendation that you visit the Galacticraft wiki to have easy access to all of the recipes. Once you make the machines, there are a few things you'll need to keep in mind. Some of these machines are simple to use, but all of them need energy. Some machines only take in energy from certain directions and produce things on the other side.

To power your buildings, you'll need to create a Coal Generator first thing. Later on, you can create Solar Panels, but as of right now they require components that need power, so you'll need to start with a Coal Generator. Once you've done that, then you can start powering your machines.

The first building you want to create is the Circuit Fabricator, since it creates Basic Wafers and Advanced Wafers, which are essential components to building anything. Next, you'll want to build a Compressor, which will compact ingots into even more durable versions of the material. Later on, you can create an Electric Compressor that runs on electricity and not coal, but you'll need the coal-fired one to make it to begin with.

Now you need fuel. Gather oil by either using a bucket or a Portable Oil Extractor. You will also need to create the Refinery to refine the oil into Rocket Fuel. This will be how you take off.

Next, you'll need to collect oxygen. Make an Oxygen Collector and plop it down anywhere to gather oxygen. Next, you need the Oxygen Pipe to feed oxygen from the collector to the Oxygen Compressor. Thankfully, this is the last step - just hook up an Oxygen Tank to the compressor and you're good to go. In order to start building a proper moon base, it's recommended you bring multiple medium or heavy oxygen tanks.

Last but not least, you'll need to actually make the rocket. Build a NASA Workbench and insert the various components into the workbench to create your rocket. Now, build a Launch Pad and place your rocket on it. Lastly, install a Fuel Loader and load in the fuel you made from the refinery. Now you can finally take off!

As you can tell, this mod has a ton to it and this is only the surface. I recommend you give it a download! Good luck!
