Love, Money, Rock and Roll 1.0

Love, Money, Rock and Roll is a visual novel through the eyes of a Russian boy living in Japan (of course every visual novel is set in Japan, it’d be nice to see a different country sometime developers!). It opens with the protagonist receiving a phone call at 3 am from a girl, the phone call is kind of conflicted because at one point the main character muses on how he would like her to be there with him but yet seems to hold a deep resentment for this girl, this made me feel that they were ex-lovers especially as there is many mentions of the famous Japanese Sakura tree where love is often proclaimed, the trouble with this opening part of the story was it gave me an instant dislike towards the main character which then in turn made it very hard to warm to the game as whole.

The drawings in this visual novel are very nice, although there are far too many which are just backgrounds and it would be nice to have more pictures of the characters involved in the story and although there a few parts where you get to choose what happens in the story there is a lot of dialogue that doesn’t move the story on a lot and it can become quite boring after a while after playing for 15 minutes nothing really has happened and if you want to learn more you will need a lot of patience.

One redeeming feature or Love, Money, Rock and Roll is the small window explaining some of the Japanese phrases that are used in the story so at least some knowledge can be gained from it.
