Pirate Doom 1.0

DOOM is one of the oldest FPSes in existence, and its engine is famously so robust that it can run on pretty much anything and also create pretty much anything.  From FPSes to RPGs to companions to a city living game, it has a ton of different mods and maps that can all do different things. One of the many is Pirate Doom.

To install Pirate Doom, you need to have ZDoom and move the WAD file into the GZDoom folder, which is pretty par for the course for DOOM maps.

There is no story blurb whatsoever. From what I can tell, you're a really good pirate, and all your friends were turned into blood crazed lunatics or demons right before your eyes. You have to make your way to the source of the demonification and end it all.

This map is great fun. There's a comical tone throughout the entire set, beginning with the voice clips uttered by the transformed zombies and how the imp's pirate hats fly up in the air and float back to the ground. It's clear that the creators had a ton of fun rehauling all the graphics. There are also a ton of joked hidden throughout the levels.

Monster behaviors don't change much, but your weapons have changed significantly. You have TNT, cannonball, cutlasses, dynamite guns, and more. Knowing the new behavior of these weapons is crucial to your success.

Overall, Pirate Doom is a fantastic time. It's incredibly creative and it's near impossible not to enjoy yourself.
