Romancing Flesh 1.1

Low budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to create an epic, the creators instead need to focus on one unique feature to make their games stick out. From these restrictions come some truly inventive concepts. One of them is Romancing Flesh, which is a short visual novel about two scientists conducting horrifying plant/animal hybrids.

To play Romancing Flesh, simply run the executable after unzipping it to a folder.

The game starts off with the main character in jail being summoned to the warden. He says that his guilty partner is going to leave the jail tonight unless you sign the confession, and persuades you by giving you files that contain the records of your experiments together.

It's there that you find out what was going on. One of the doctors wanted to combine animal cells with plant cells to create trees that grow meat and live hundreds of years in order to solve the ongoing food crisis of the world. His partner is uncomfortable with it, but gradually gets more and more radical as the experiments continue. The picture you see in this review is just the tip of the iceberg.

The ending of this story is spine chilling and the implications of what it holds for the future of that particular world is horrifying.
