Super Mario Bros. Papercraft 1.0

Nintendo has a very strange relationship with fan content. It seems like Nintendo is more interested in aggressively shutting down whatever fans make in fear of them conflicting with their own interests instead of simply going the SEGA route and appreciating the passion of the fans. However, their fans are so passionate that they keep doing it regardless. Super Mario Bros. Papercraft is one of those fan projects.

To play Super Mario Bros. Papercraft, simply boot up whatever SWF player you have and execute the SWF file in it.

This is a remake of the entire first world of Super Mario Bros. It even has the Bowser fight, all the secret pipes, enemies and power-ups. It even has a warp zone at the end of stage 1-2, but at the moment, it will simply teleport you to the next level because there's no other worlds. You'll also find that the gameplay is incredibly imprecise and buggy, which might turn you off if you're a Mario purist. However, the first world is so easy that it shouldn't prove too much of an issue.

The game goes hard on the papercraft aesthetic, with little sticks supporting every midair character, powerup, and cloud while also having creases everywhere. It's an incredibly charming look.

What's more is that this game more than likely will take quite some time to actually finish development, and it's not unlikely that Nintendo will nip it in the bud before it ever reaches completion. Still, Super Mario Bros. Papercraft is one of the best fan games ever made.
