The Nameless Mod Review
Last Updated: 2020-06-08 21:11:49
Deus Ex is one of the best-known RPGs of its time. It's well known for its open-ended gameplay, branching storylines, and tons of different playstyles that no RPG has managed to match up quite as well lately. Its engine is also incredibly modular, meaning that it's incredibly easy for fans to create new original content for it. One of them is The Nameless Mod, which is an entirely new campaign for the game.
To install The Nameless Mod, simply run the executable and you're good to go.
The first thing you'll notice is that this has surprisingly high production value for a fan mod. There are over 200,000 lines of fully voiced dialogue, a story that branches far more than most modern AAA games do an hour in, an abundance of clever commentary, and a compelling narrative. The voice acting really deserves a highlight - it can surpass its source material regularly. There's no infamous Hong kong accent here.
The main story is based in Forum City, which is a ton in cheek reference to the forum boards. This setting leads to a ton of very clever commentary on internet culture. This also gives it a ton of atmosphere, and there are as many creepy areas such as defunct, dead forums as there are hilarious areas such as troll forums.
Overall, The Nameless Mod is insanely high quality for a fan-made mod and any fan of Deus Ex should give a look at. It is an insanely good time and has a ton of replay value.
