Hellscape 1.0

DOOM is one of the oldest FPSes in existence, and its engine is famously so robust that it can run on pretty much anything and also create pretty much anything.  From FPSes to RPGs to companions to a city living game, it has a ton of different maps that all do different things. One of the best ones out there is Hellscape, a map that completely overhauls and remasters DOOM 2 hell levels..

To install Hellscape, you need to have ZDoom and move the WAD file into the GZDoom folder, which is pretty par for the course for DOOM mods.

One of the biggest differences between this and other mods that remaster original levels is that this game does its best to keep the general layout and gameplay elements of the original. In return, it meshes all the disparate hell levels of DOOM 2 to all have a unifying theme.

There are a set of maps that all share an aesthetic. One theme is Pandemonium, where its a chaotic cobbled together fusion of our dimension and theirs. Another theme has you exploring massive subterranean spaces that have an incredibly unique feel. The last theme is set in catacombs that are built within a giant underground cavity. Lastly, there is a theme where there are a few giant land masses floating in hellish space, where you can see glimpses of the real world in these cracks.

All in all, the megawad is a fantastic remaster. You should try installing Hellscape if you liked DOOM 2.
