Enjoying a simple board game with friends is more difficult nowadays, due to how much we're pushed to travel around and away from our old friends. Thankfully, the internet does give us an acceptably accurate substitution to let you enjoy doing things with your friends that you used to do. One of these many substitutions is Checkersland, a substitution for Checkers.

Installing Checkersland is straightforward and simple. Simply run the executable and pick where you want to install it. This program lets you enjoy a game of checkers with either a computer opponent or with any of the other players from all over the world. The game gives you a ton of different variants of checkers when it comes to the rules, so you can enjoy it whichever way you want. Naturally, if you're playing against other people, they must also want to play the same variant you do.

Gameplay-wise, well...it's checkers, just with moving pieces with a mouse instead of with your hand. You click on a piece and its legal moves are on display, after which you simply select one of those moves and move on.

As mentioned before, the game comes with a multiplayer component to help you hone your skills. You'll need to register an account to start playing online. If you play as a guest, you can't keep track of anything you do and can't engage in private matches.
