Keeping all your system's utility software updated is something that's surprisingly difficult. If you're like me, you would have downloaded a ton of software to augment Window's built-in functions. Unfortunately, these programs aren't supported by the Windows Updater, and rarely self-update. To update them all consistently, you'll need to have a special program. And that's where SUMo comes in. It will scan your system for all available apps and then update them when it can.
Installing SUMo is standard and runs fast without any issues. Once launched, it shows a small window in front of its interface offering to automatically detect installed software. You can do it later, and pick specific folders or drives to scan later. You should keep in mind that this program reads all executable files and attempts to load them into the list. That means that even if the file isn't a part of the registry (like unpacked program files), it will still detect them as a program and search for programs. If you can't find a certain program on the list, you can always open the file browser to locate and add the executable directly in.
Once you locate something you want to update, you can tell it to open the official download webpage with a single click. That means that it won't automatically update things for you - you'd have to do it manually - but you can be sure that this minimizes errors from automatic updates that other programs tend to have. This makes SUMo easy to recommend.
