NOTE: In order to use Eclipse you must have Java JDK installed on your computer. If you do not, here are the links to the 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
Eclipse is an integrated development environment (IDE) which main purpose is to assist you with Java development. Though, while that is it's main purpose, Eclipse is not limited to just helping you develop Java, but can very well do a good job helping you develop in other languages as well. These other languages include Perl, PHP, Python, and Ruby. Eclipse is also the most popular IDE application for Android development and the Android SDK. Eclipse has made it a lot easier for developers to make applications for the Android mobile operating system, and has done so better than any other IDE available.
This IDE application, compared to some of it's competitors, is one of the most easy to use and to develop with. Eclipse is very good at predicting your next move and helping you get your job done faster by giving you shortcuts and detailed error messages to help you know what the issues are with your code. This can make sure you develop with nothing but quality, and will help you reduce the amount of time it takes to figure out small problems and aid you in getting the job done faster.
Eclipse also have a very user friendly interface that is fully customizable; allowing you to reorder icons, menus and pretty much fix it in any way you like to make sure you can easily find what you are looking for and personalize Eclipse to further suit your working style.
This is the 64 bit version of Eclipse.
